Microsoft Windows Media: Wmp 11 will not open Vista home premium

After 3 trouble-free months wmp cannot be opened in any way - not as default
player, right-click, as admin,etc... I have not installed sattelite tv or
anything similar. 1 week ago, it mysteriously began working- only to cease
working the following day. Any help would be welcomed.

Is it opening off-screen perhaps ? There would be an icon in the task
bar, and a running task in Task Manager's process list.

In that case, you could right-click the Player icon in the taskbar,
and choose 'Move' from the context menu. Using only the cursor keys,
move it back on screen.

Hi Neil. Sorry to say, it's not running off screen nor is it a running task
in Task Managers process list. I failed to mention in previous post that WMP
does not recognize the E drive either.

I can't think how you know the E-Drive is missing if you can't start
the program. Check it's not just a broken shortcut icon or anything :

If you go to C:\Program Files\windows media player

Try double clicking the wmplayer.exe program there. If nothing
happens, try the setup_wm.exe program instead and see if it fires up

Hi Neil. I'm sorry I wasn't clear about the E-Drive. What I meant was when a
disk is inserted, wmp does not play it - it is set up to "always play"
default. I tried wmplayer.exe and setup_wm.exe as suggested but no go.
